Hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming techniques
Our one hour sessions use a combination of hypnotherapy and neuro-linguistic
programming (NLP) based on your needs and what you want to achieve.
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to facilitate change. During hypnosis you relax and focus inwardly on your thoughts, feelings and imagination. This enables you to access the subconscious mind to resolve conflicts and make the changes you want. Your mind will automatically focus on the suggestions that are being put to you to master a particular problem. In relation to smoking, positive suggestions will be placed into the subconscious level of your mind while you are in the relaxed state of hypnosis. The suggestions are in agreement with and reflect your conscious desires, for example that you have no cravings or desire to smoke. For more information about hypnotherapy, see Hypnotherapy.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is an umbrella term describing a variety of powerful techniques for effecting positive changes in our lives. NLP is based on a study of how language, thought patterns, and our perception of the world affects our behaviour. NLP enables us to see the world in different ways and then use the methods necessary to bring about the results we require. By changing our perceptions, we can use skills and abilities that we already possess to achieve our goals and create a new and different future for ourselves.
It is therefore highly effective in enabling people to stop doing anything they no longer wish to do, as many habits are primarily conditioned responses to given situations or stimuli. By applying NLP techniques, we can change that response and the associated behaviour, without any of the associated side-effects you might expect.
What to expect
When you make an appointment you will be offered a free initial consultation which can last up to 20 minutes. Treatment sessions will then generally last one hour. During the initial consultation we will discuss your needs and requirements so that we can devise a plan of action to suit your needs. If I feel that hypnotherapy isn’t appropriate for you, I will tell you and direct you to alternative help.
I will give you a fair assessment of how much improvement you can expect and how many sessions may be needed. Some changes are made very rapidly whilst others take a little longer. I normally recommend a minimum of three to six sessions to fully evaluate its benefits, although in some cases only one or two sessions are required to achieve a successful outcome. However, my aim is for you to achieve the desired positive outcome in the shortest possible time.
What will happen in the session?
Each session is different and may contain a mix of hypnotherapy techniques, neuro-linguistic programming and coaching, depending on what we jointly agree will work best for you.
Struggling with weight?
Claire, I thought I should express my thanks, for the positive changes that have occurred since I came to the hypnotherapy sessions with you. I’ve struggled with my weight for years, in fact my son told me the other day, ‘Dad you’ve always been fat’ – but not now of course. I had about £1,000 invested in suits that were waiting to be worn, which was why using your services was a sensible option! I’ve lost just over a stone in weight so far and I’m enjoying my exercise and feeling a whole lot better. I can fit into the suits, which has been very positive in terms of my wallet, so I’m very happy with the way everything has turned out. I am pleased to recommend your services to anyone who wants to make a change in their life, without hesitation.
Dealing with stress or depression
When I first visited Claire, I was emotionally a complete wreck! I was suffering from an unexplained illness (later diagnosed as glandular fever) which has reduced my very active lifestyle to nothing. The illness brought all my negative thoughts and feelings to the fore and I was desperate for help! A friend recommended Claire and I went along desperate to try anything! It was not at all how I imagined it would be and I can assure anyone who is worried about this type of therapy that you are in complete control at all times. It helped me enormously, even after only a couple of sessions. Being open minded is the main thing – and allow the rest to just happen!
